What does a Furniture Maker do

  • Design and plan furniture pieces by reading blueprints, sketches, or client specifications, selecting appropriate wood species and materials for each project.

  • Cut, shape, and join wood components using hand tools and power machinery such as table saws, routers, lathes, and sanders to construct furniture frames and parts.
